light, colour & texture brighten all the way through the house
Getting clients involved in planning their home is a big part of how I work.
Early meetings often start with shyly presented sketches on graph paper and a picture or two from a magazine or a sample of type of wood that they love. The pictures and the materials provide great insight for me into a clients sense of how they want the building to feel, frequently becoming the inspiration for a building’s design.
From this starting point we move on to questions such as – how do you want the different spaces in the home to feel – cozy ? grand? spacious? intimate?
Equally important is how clients want to use the different spaces in their home and how these spaces interact with each other and the site. It’s utterly fascinating how different people relate in such a variety of ways to their homes and the surrounding environment.
